Port Adelaide great Kane Cornes has revealed another chapter to arguably the AFL's lowest and most infamous sledge.
Ten years later, it still burns in Port champion Kane Cornes.
The Power great has opened up on the dressing room reactions to the infamous Will Minson sledge about his son Eddy during a 2008 AFL match.
The 35-year-old opened up about his reaction to personal disparaging comments about his family on his SEN Radio show on Tuesday morning in response to criticism directed at David Warner for the Aussie vice-captain's angry response to reported comments about his wife Candice.
In a round 14 clash between Port Adelaide and the Western Bulldogs in Darwin, Cornes has previously said Minson turned to him in the middle of the game and said: "Shouldn't you be home with your dying son?"
At the time, Cornes' four-year-old son Eddy was "fighting for life".
"I wanted to kill the culprit and it still makes me sick when I relive the story today," Cornes said.
Cornes went on to reveal the fury he saw in Power teammate Danyle Pearce's eyes after Minson was again busted for making disgusting comments about a rival player's family.
In 2012, Minson apologised and was suspended by his own club for one match after making an offensive comment about Pearce's mother.
"The same player, only a few years later directed a vile sledge towards my teammate's mother," Cornes said on Tuesday.
"I remember my teammate visibly shaking with anger in the change rooms post-game.
"Sledging is great for the game, there is nothing better than [Aussie fast bowler] Mitchell Starc sending them past the batsman's ears at 145km per hour and then having a quiet word.
"It adds another layer to a game that can sometimes be pedestrian. But there's a line, we all know what that line is.
"Quinton de Kock and perhaps some of his teammates crossed it. They should be embarrassed."
