Kiwi Jamie Larsen won the feature race at the Porter Hire International Sprint Car Series finale at Springs Speedway over the weekend, pocketing a cool $10,000 for his success.
Larsen led from start to finish in the 40-lap feature, avoiding any carnage and driving away from any challenge behind him.
American Jonathan Allard held off Jamie Veal for second place while Stephen Taylor finished fourth.
"We are pretty stoked as a team," Larsen said. "It is awesome to have a Kiwi win that race. In all the years that I have been coming I don't think I've seen a New Zealander win it.
"We qualified second and then won both of our pole shuffles to determine the grid position. We decided to choose second just because of track conditions.
"We made a good start and just made sure we didn't get caught up in anything like had done the previous two nights."
It was an unhappy night for American star Shane Stewart – he failed to finish a heat earlier in the night and then ran into drama in the feature, when he rolled his car onto his side and was forced out of the race.
Hayden Williams claimed his second midget feature of the season as he held off the chasing field in the deciding race. Zach Daum, Shayne Alach and Brad Mosen battled hard before Daum perished at turn one.
Alach finished second with Mosen third.
Mitch Osborne won the F2 Midget feature – his second of the season - while Ryan Baker claimed his first TQ feature.
