The New Zealand men's softball team have made a winning start to the Legends of Fastpitch Classic in Canada.
They needed just five innings to beat Elmira Erb Expos 8-1 today in a match delayed for 24 hours due to heavy rain in Kitchener, Ontario.
Among the standout performers for the Black Sox side were Wayne Laulu and
Campbell Makea, who both picked up home runs and two-base hits.
Pitcher Thomas Cameron gave up two hits, including a home run, and took eight strikeouts. He also gave up three walks.
The Black Sox tomorrow play the Port Elgin Blue Devils, who lost their opening game.
