The New Zealand women's softball team bounced back from yesterday's disappointment to beat South Australia 6-3 in the Edebone Weber and Gilley's shields competitions at Waverley, Victoria, today.
Today's win was the White Sox fourth of the competition and has them fifth on the points table after they were yesterday beaten 5-4 by competition leaders Queensland and 6-1 New South Wales, who are second with a game in hand.
New Zealand were to have played Western Australia in their final game of the weekend, but rain forced that game to be abandoned.
The White Sox next matches in the series will be at Mirrabooka, Perth, from January 4-6.
The Gilley's Shield involves the leading women's players from the six Australian state sides and the New Zealand national team. The games are played over 10 rounds and conclude with a finals weekend in January. The Edebone-Weber Shield is held in conjunction with that competition.
