New Zealand notched their first win at the women's world softball championships with a solid 2-0 defeat of South Africa in Beijing last night.
The White Sox, who were hammered 0-9 by Canada on the opening day, bounced back to beat opponents they are ranked above.
In New Zealand's pool, Canada are still unbeaten after downing Great Britain 5-1.
The White Sox face Italy today.
