Wellington's frontal assault which brought five runs in top of the first inning set up a 7-3 win over title-holders Auckland in the men's national league softball final in Christchurch yesterday.
The side went through the batting order in that first frame at Smokefree Ballpark, with the four hits off young Black Sox pitcher Thomas Cameron including a lead-off Thomas Makea double and a Wayne Laulu double.
Two more runs were added in the third inning, one from a broken bat hit single by first baseman Laulu, and with a 7-0 lead the contest was all but over.
