Seasoned club and provincial coach Paul Stockford has been appointed to the head coach role with the Junior Black Sox.
Stockford has been assistant coach of the junior team in recent years and was with the team as they finished fourth at the world championships earlier this year.
"The position of head coach of the Junior Black Sox has been a goal for me and something I have aspired to over the last seven or eight years," Stockford said.
He was looking ahead to the next junior men's world championships which will be in 2008 at a yet-to-be-named venue.
Based in Levin, Stockford is currently coach of the Hutt Valley men's national league team and Hutt Valley club side Cardinals.
