Black Sox coach Eddie Kohlhase has made six changes to his softball side for next month's Commonwealth Series in Melbourne.
Following their decisive 4-0 series win over Samoa earlier this month, Kohlhase said changes were likely as he looks to build player depth ahead of the 2009 world series.
The 17-strong side named yesterday includes two new caps - Hutt Valley pitcher Jeremy Manley and Wellington outfielder Todd Grego.
Strong performances during the off season in America helped secure 23-year-old Manley a spot while the 26-year-old Australian born Grego has represented Australia at a senior level.
"Todd is a good athlete. He has good speed, is a very good hitter and a strong arm from the outfield," Kohlhase said.
Returning to the side are long-time Black Sox members Roman Gabriel, Bevan Martin and Brad Rona while Rhys Casley, who has been in and out of the side for the last three years, has been recalled.
While there are a number of changes, Kohlhase believes it is still a strong team.
The Commonwealth Series is from January 25-29 and also involves Australia, Samoa, South Africa and Botswana who will compete in a round robin series ahead of a final playoff.
