New Zealand maintained their unbeaten run at the junior men's world softball championship today with a 2-1 win over the United States at Prince Edward Island, Canada.
The Junior Black Sox came from behind with a late rally in the sixth inning to win the tight match.
The US took the early advantage in the top of the fourth inning courtesy of an automatic home run.
The fight back from the Junior Black Sox came in the bottom of the sixth inning when, with two down, coach Mark Sorenson went to his bench to bring in pinch hitters.
Isaac Fletcher picked up a walk and then Tristram Lupo-Samoa hit to left field to advance the runner to second base.
Hawkes Bay's Mario Herbert provided the crucial hit when he picked up a single to score Michael Crowley, who was running for Fletcher from second base, to level the scores.
The winning run came from the bat of Brett Tibbitts, who also hit a single to score Mathew Telfer.
The Junior Black Sox will play Denmark tomorrow.
