Higher honours will be on the mind of several players competing at the Dean Schick Memorial men's softball tournament on Auckland's North Shore this weekend.
New Zealand coach Eddie Kohlhase will be an interested onlooker at the tournament starting tomorrow night, as he looks to finalise his team to compete in April's Oceania world championship qualifying tournament in Auckland.
Among the players who will particularly want to impress Kohlhase over the weekend are Black Sox squad members Jarrad Martin, Brad Rona who will be both playing for local side Northcote, and Stephen Ratu, from Wellington club Poneke-Kilbirnie. The trio have not been available for national league duty.
