New Zealand will play Venezuela in the softball world championship final, starting at 1pm, after the south Americans scored a shock 2 - 0 victory over champions Australia at Rosedale Park in Albany this morning.
Australia's decision to start No. 2 pitcher Andrew Kirkpatrick proved costly, with the lanky thrower giving up two runs in the first couple of innings, forcing the introduction of No. 1 Andrew Falkard. Venezuela have never won a world medal previously, while New Zealand will be gunning for their sixth title.
