Branislav Trojanovic, the owner of newly promoted Yugoslav first division soccer club Zvezdara Belgrade, was murdered in front of his home at the weekend, the daily Blic reported yesterday.
According to the paper, the 48-year-old businessman was shot four times in the head from a handgun with a silencer.
Trojanovic is the third high-profile owner of a soccer club gunned down in Belgrade in the last three years. The media linked their deaths to various lucrative business dealings. Gangster-style executions of high-profile businessmen have been common in Belgrade over the past decade. Trojanovic was believed to have owned a chain of restaurants, cafes, boutiques and casinos.
