Former Napier City Rovers striker Paul Jackson wrote himself into FA Cup soccer history when he became only the second player in the competition's 131-year history to score 10 goals in a game.
His Unibond League team Stockbridge Park Steels demolished hapless Oldham Town 17-1 recently in the preliminary round of the competition.
Jackson, as a young import professional from Barnsley Football Club, played a key role in Napier's 2000 Chatham Cup and National League double-winning side.
He equalled Chris Marron's 10-goal bag for South Shields against Radcliffe set in 1947 to become only the second player in more than 55,000 FA Cup matches to notch double figures since the cup was first played for in 1871.
"Everything I hit seemed to go in," Jackson said in a statement from Sport Hawke's Bay.
"I only had nine shots but got 10 goals because I managed to block a clearance and it flew into the net off my knee."
A delighted Stockbridge manager Wayne Biggins said: "I knew he was a good striker and told him we needed to see him getting into double figures. I did not expect him to take it so literally!"
The win, which saw Jackson net five goals in each half, was the biggest cup victory since Skinningrove Works crashed 18-0 to Ferryhill 48 years ago.
