Soccer teams will use gold-coloured balls at next year's World Cup in Korea and Japan. They will be the first non-white balls at the sport's showpiece since 1966.
Adidas-Salomon AG, the second-biggest maker of sporting goods, will unveil the ball, called Fevernova, at a ceremony in Busan, Korea, today. The company has supplied the World Cup since 1970.
The ball incorporates a design featuring red and gold triangles. Its surface layer is made up of "gas-filled, individually closed micro balloons that return energy in equal measures in all places," making the ball faster and more predictable in flight, adidas said.
