Wanaka-based skeleton racer Louise Corcoran battled the odds to sit 21st after the first day of the world championships in Switzerland yesterday.
Corcoran, 21, competed with a broken tendon in her left ankle and after a bout of food poisoning disrupted her preparation for the championships in St Moritz.
