KEY POINTS:
A lack of snow in Europe is good news for New Zealand skier Jossi Wells.
Wells will now be able to contest the world championships in Italy, which have been postponed until March, as well as the high-profile X-Games in the United States.
Both were originally scheduled for this week.
Now Wells will be able to realise his dream of competing in the X-Games, then have time to prepare and contest the world championships in Italy from March 5.
Unseasonably warm weather has meant snow-making at Madonna di Campiglio in Italy has been possible on only eight nights in the past two months.
Wells is focused on his major goal in this week's X-Games in Utah, starting on Thursday, which sees the best elite freeskiers invited to compete.
"I have been training hard and here in Park City we have had good storms which have given us some really consistent snow," he said.
"I just want to ski my best and see what happens. I am feeling pretty happy with my performances at training so hopefully I'll ski really well.
"Being invited into the X-Games has been a goal for me so I'm really stoked to receive the invite this year.
"Skiing with the best in the world is always fun and give me the motivation to keep improving and learning new stuff."
