NSW Waratahs made a rocky start to their Super Rugby title defence, being beaten by Western Force at Allianz Stadium in Sydney yesterday.
It was the first time in 10 seasons the Force have won their opening round game and they were good value for their victory.
The Force scored four tries to two and defended resolutely against an error-prone Waratahs side that showed little of the quality that carried them to the title last year.
It is the Waratahs' first loss in 10 games following an unbeaten run since April 2014.
It means the away team has won all six opening round games for the 2015 season.
