New Zealand Boardsailing champion Barbara Kendall is one of six inductees into the new Sailing Hall of Fame named at a function in Portugal.
She joins five other sailing legends including Dame Ellen MacArthur and Sir Robin Knox-Johnston.
She said while it is not going to tempt complacency, it is satisfying nonetheless.
Kendall, 40, said it takes some of the pressure off and means she is not as frantic about proving herself.
