New Zealand sailor Andy Maloney has moved up a place to fifth at the Laser World Championships in Germany.
Maloney, 21, in a fleet of 168 boats at the regatta off Boltenhagen, is the best of the New Zealanders, with Sam Meech and Andrew Murdoch 22nd and 31st respectively.
Maloney is the best performing New Zealander at three world championships regattas under way in Europe.
At the Star World Championships in Hyeres, France, an 18th place finish pushed Hamish Pepper and Jim Turner from 7th to 9th overall.
Both teams of New Zealanders at the 49er World Championships at Zadar, Croatia, are inside the top 20 after the first two days of sailing. Peter Burling and Blair Tuke, New Zealand's Olympic representatives in this class and silver medallists from the 2011 49er World Championships, are in 13th place and only seven points adrift of the podium. Marcus Hansen and Josh Porebski are also doing well, in 18th place after the first six races.
