Former world No 1 boardsailor Jon-Paul Tobin is the best-placed of the New Zealanders after day one at the fifth round of the sailing World Cup for Olympic-class sailors in the Netherlands.
North Shore's Tobin, with a seventh and two fifths in the regatta at Medemblik, is sixth overall with 17 points in the 100-strong men's RS:X fleet. Mashiah Nimrod of Israel has the early lead in the class.
Peter Burling and Blair Tuke are 16th in the 49ers after four races with two fifths, a seventh and a 27th giving them 44 points.
In women's match racing, Stephanie Hazard at the helm, Jenna Hansen on main and Sam Osborne on the bow scored a win and three losses in group C on day one.
