Yachting: Speed machines between yachts

Sail will give way to raw power for 10 days during the America's Cup regatta next February with the waters of the Waitemata Harbour and Hauraki Gulf churned up by 60 powerboats.

More than $200 million worth of the world's best speed machines from 16 countries will take to the water for the world offshore championships.

The February 7 to 16 championships fit neatly between the Louis Vuitton Cup finals for the America's Cup challengers and the defence series.
