It has been confirmed that Dennis Conner will have the top job aboard the New York Yacht Club boat for the 2003 America's Cup.
Conner will skipper the challenge to be known as Stars and Stripes and an American software company will be the main sponsor.
He says he wants to take the America's Cup back to New York which last won it in 1980. The Club lost the Cup in dramatic circumstances to Alan Bond's winged-keeled Australia II in 1983.
