VALENCIA, Spain - Sailing fanatics are scrutinising the Louis Vuitton Cup finalists to see if they have altered their boats for the last hurrah but for one sailor, the changes on board are not enough.
"I can tell you something that hasn't changed on our boat -- we still have pasta in our lunchboxes every day. It's been the same since I arrived," said Andrew Taylor, a grinder for Italian team Luna Rossa.
Grinders, the powerhouses who wind the winches to shift the sails, use up about 4000 calories in a race so they need to pack in the carbohydrates.
Rolling his eyeballs, the New Zealander moaned: "Cold pasta is OK once a day. But twice, three times and every single day?"
