Dean Barker only has to make the semifinals of the last stop of the new world matchracing tour to collect a $US150,000 bonus for the Team New Zealand coffers.
Barker's deputy helmsman, Cameron Appleton, yesterday finished fifth in the penultimate regatta, the Danish Open, to keep Team NZ in the running for first place overall in the Swedish Match tour and the bonus pay cheque.
French America's Cup skipper Bertrand Pace, who has an 11-point series lead over the Kiwis, finished second yesterday to Swede Magnus Holmberg, but said he would not contest the final event in Bermuda next month.
