Strong winds today prevented any racing in the America's Cup challenger yachting series on the Hauraki Gulf for the second day in a row.
Rules for the Louis Vuitton Cup series set an average windspeed of 19 knots as the upper limit for racing to start. Today it was up to 25 knots when efforts to get under way were abandoned this afternoon.
Just three days now remain to complete the first phase of the semifinals and organisers said they would meet with teams tonight to decide on the format of the remainder of the round.
That could include having two races a day.
In the round so far, the Swiss Alinghi team lead 3-0 over San Francisco's Oracle, and need just one more win in the best-of-seven contest to qualify for the challengers' final.
The loser will have a second chance to qualify for the final by racing the winner of the other semifinal, between Seattle's OneWorld and Prada of Italy, which is tied at 1-1, with the score taking into account the one point penalty taken off OneWorld going into the round.
