5.30pm UPDATE
Stars and Stripes have been awarded the point from their race with Le Defi, after the French crew were unable to get their boat ready in time for the restart of their Louis Vuitton Cup match this afternoon.
The first attempt for the race earlier in the day was abandoned when wind speeds climbed too high.
At that point Stars and Stripes had been well in the lead, after the French broke a forestay and for some moments looked to be in danger of losing their mast.
The result means Stars and Stripes have four points from the first round robin, while Le Defi remains winless.
The French yacht's forestay broke approaching the third mark of a shortened four-leg race. The French crew aboard Le Defi worked frantically to prevent further damage after the breakage, which left the mast in danger of snapping and the genoa trailing in the water.
At one stage crew members could be seen cutting the genoa off the forestay, and appeared to secure the masthead with a halyard.
The match was then abandoned due to the wind speed exceeding 23 knots.
Despite winter-like conditions, racing in the last day of the Louis Vuitton Challenger series got underway just after 10.30 this morning.
The first round robin officially ended on Saturday but five races were left outstanding after light winds prevented them from being completed earlier in the round.
Today is the last day available for racing before a seven-day break which has been set aside for teams to modify their boats if they chose before the start of the second round robin.
Today's races have been shortened from six legs to four to allow time to make up the two flights that were abandoned last week.
