Light shifty winds on Auckland's Hauraki Gulf again plagued racing this afternoon. The much awaited clash between American heavyweights OneWorld and Oracle was cancelled after the pair failed to reach the second mark in the required 45 minutes.
The two United States yachts are considered to be frontrunners among the nine teams challenging to take on Team New Zealand for the America's Cup in February.
The match between Team Dennis Conner and Le Defi Areva, also racing on Course Romeo followed suit soon after. Team Dennis Conner had been within about a minute of the third mark and 1100 metres ahead of Le Defi Areva of France when they ran out of time.
Mascalzone Latino were beating GBR Challenge on Course Juliet before their race was also cancelled.
The cancelled races now take place at the end of the round.
In tommorrow's races OneWorld face Victory Challenge, GBR Challenge race Prada, Alinghi face Team Dennis Conner and Oracle face Le Defi Areva.
