5.30pm
The first scheduled day of the Louis Vuitton Cup quarterfinal repechage saw racing cancelled when light northeasterly winds failed to build sufficiently for a fair contest.
The yachts were on standby on the Hauraki Gulf off Auckland for most of the day as the Race Committee waited for the wind to stabilise.
A large spectator fleet, the biggest so far in the current Louis Vuitton Cup series, gathered on the water to see the opening races of the quarterfinal repechage. Instead, they were treated to a weird display of Auckland's weather with light fickle breezes, dense sea-fog and drizzle.
At 3.40pm hours, Race Officer Peter Reggio ordered the AP over A flags to be flown, indicating that no racing would take place today.
Weather permitting, the best-of-seven series between OneWorld and Team Dennis Conner and between Prada and Victory Challenge will get under way.
As the highest-ranked boat in the quarterfinals, OneWorld was able to select its opponents for this round and chose another American syndicate, Team Dennis Conner. This in turn pits the Swedish Victory Challenge against the Italian Prada Challenge.
The first warning gun in the quarterfinal repechage is scheduled for 1.05pm daily.
