Hopes of catching up on postponed races in the Louis Vuitton Cup were dealt another setback today as light winds delayed the start of racing until after midday.
Organisers had hoped to run flights five and six on shortened courses today, with the first flight starting at 10.30.
Although northwesterly winds of 12-19 knots were forecast, breezes were too light in the morning, and racing finally got underway in a southwesterly of less than 7 knots. A short time later a 100-degree right hand shift prompted the courses to be adjusted.
In one of the flight five races currently underway, underdogs Mascalzone Latino led Prada by 32s at the first mark.
Oracle won their start and led Victory Challenge at the first mark.
Stars & Stripes and OneWorld began with a penalty each from the pre-start manouvring, and Alinghi was scheduled to race the GBR Challenge.
