Wild weather conditions in Bermuda has forced the postponement of today's racing in the challenger semifinals, handing Team New Zealand an extra 24 hours to repair their damaged boat.
The Kiwi team sustained major damage to their boat after capsizing in the brutal conditions on the Great Sound yesterday.
Today has brought even stronger winds, with readings on the race course at around 25-28 knots, with gusts into the high 30s.
After monitoring the conditions throughout the morning and early afternoon, regatta director Iain Murray made the decision to abandon racing for the day early.
The delay will come as a relief for Team NZ, handing them an extra day to get their boat back in shape and psychologically recover from the shock of yesterday's dramatic capsize.
