America's Cup defenders Oracle Team USA had a major scare in yesterday's official practice racing session in Bermuda, coming close to capsizing on the Great Sound.
A video posted online by a Bermuda local shows Oracle losing control in a maneouvre and tipping onto one hull, coming precariously close to capsizing. Another gust of wind and Oracle's AC50 race boat would have likely capsized, causing serious damage just 50 days out from the start of the regatta.
The crew managed to quickly depower the boat, and settle back on two hulls. It is not known whether Oracle, skippered by Jimmy Spithill, suffered any damage to their 50-ft catamaran in the incident.
Oracle have not made any mention of the incident on their website or social media channels.
The near-miss comes just days after Artemis suffered serious damage to one of their test boats, after dropping their wing during testing.
