The International Jury of the Louis Vuitton Cup has imposed a fine of US$10,000 ($20,894) on Team Alinghi following the Swiss challenger's win over Italian syndicate Mascalzone Latino on Saturday.
The jury determined that the broadcasting microphones on Alinghi were not turned on until seven minutes after the start of the race. They are required to be switched on six minutes before the start.
The members of Team Alinghi maintain that the microphones were turned on as required.
Alinghi will not forfeit the point gained by winning the race.
