Rugby heart-throb Dan Carter has launched a new brand of the underwear he has been promoting since 2003 which could make him New Zealand's equivalent of David Beckham in marketing terms.

Well, I believe in some cases products or services endorsed by a celebrity would most definitely help influence sales. But how can Dan Carter be compared to David Beckham?? David Beckham I understand, people who do not follow soccer know who Beckham is, but Dan Carter..??? And that fact is magnified even more in non rugby-playing countries.

Yeah right! I will buy what and when I want to buy things, not because someone who kicks a rugby balls wears something. NZ Celebrities "suck" as best of times, thats why I told my partner that she is wasting money when she tries to buy Womens Weekly etc. She now buys the Economist and Time magazine and she loves it.

Quite the opposite. Celebrity endorsements put me off buying the products. I think that, given the general public adulation of anything to do with the All Blacka, that this endorsement probably will generate sales to the fans. Actually, I think the word "pantyfans" is appropriate here. I am thankful that I can make my own decisions on what underwear to buy, I do not trust the "opinion" of anyone who is paid ridiculous amounts of money to endorse a product. While we are on the subject, Bond's are the best and most comfortable underwear, and that is the end of it.
