Wynne Gray: Why I may be tempted to watch the Six Nations

Six Nations rugby has rarely been a go-to on my television schedule.

The only way to watch sport of any kind is live and getting up in the middle of the night to watch northern hemisphere rugby on the off-chance it might be enthralling, did not crest my appetite.

This weekend might be different as the Six Nations cracks open a new tournament with England venturing across the border to tangle with the Scots at Murrayfield and with a 6am Sunday kickoff, it may get my attention. There are a number of reasons.

It's the first foray for abrasive Aussie coach Eddie Jones who jumped the queue ahead of any Brits with his experience.

Both sides have lingering hangovers from the World Cup with Sunday's result a possible boom or bust season scenario.

Scotland and their Kiwi coach Vern Cotter aiming to back their skills and tactical approach to drive them home rather than a swirl of passionate endeavour. Scotland have yet to win the Six Nations but their World Cup quarterfinal against the Wallabies, showed them what they could achieve.

For weeks Scotland have been plotting and planning while Jones has been scouting players and trying to decipher who has the game to play test rugby for England.
