Otago hooker Tom Willis, 24, an All Black in each of the past two years, confirmed yesterday that he had signed a two-year deal with Waikato.
He is the second Otago player in as many days to announce he is moving, afterJoe McDonnell confirmed a transfer to Wellington.
The pair will play out the NPC for Otago this year.
Their rivals for the hooking and loosehead prop positions, Anton Oliver and Carl Hoeft respectively, have both re-signed with Otago.
"It is a major move. It will be a new start for me," Willis said. "It's not something I decided on easily. Dunedin's my home and it was a big decision for me, but, essentially, it's about me playing more rugby."
