England first five-eighth Jonny Wilkinson made his comeback from injury today, kicking 11 points in Newcastle's 23-22 defeat to Northampton in the English Premiership.
Wilkinson, who came on as a replacement after 37 minutes, was this week left out of the British and Irish Lions squad to tour New Zealand but coach Clive Woodward said he could be added to the 44-man party if he proves his fitness.
Wilkinson has not played a test since kicking the winning drop goal in the 2003 World Cup final against Australia.
He has been plagued by shoulder problems and his last comeback in March ended prematurely when he aggravated a knee injury.
