The Blues, once the glamour team of Super rugby, have had a dismal showing this season.

The Auckland-based franchise limped off the Super 14 stage this weekend after a disappointing season which ended at Eden Park with a loss to the Crusaders.

The Blues are centred around one of provincial rugby's powerhouses, and are able to make use of the top talents of two other first division unions. So why was this season's campaign such a disaster?
