The Crusaders may call the tune on the field - but they have hit more than a few bum notes in their tribute to stalwart Andy Ellis.
The halfback, who likely played his final game in front of a parochial home crowd in Christchurch on Saturday in the 35-10 loss to the Hurricanes, was serenaded by his teammates in an online video. And the song of choice? Westlife's Flying Without Wings.
The Crusaders posted the patchy vocal performance by players, including All Blacks skipper Kieran Reid, on their Facebook page.
The team leaves tomorrow for South Africa to play the Lions in their must-win Super Rugby quarter-final.
The post reads: "Last night at our final home game for 2016 we paid tribute to some legendary BNZ Crusaders who are leaving us at the end of this season.
