Reuben Thorne has a unique Super 12 record.
The former All Blacks captain is the only Crusader to have played every minute of all five final victories.
His brother-in-law Andrew Mehrtens, who got on the field for the final 90s against the Waratahs, has also appeared in five finals, but Thorne is the only 80-minute man.
That might explain the Crusaders' chant after the trophy presentation of "Reuben Thorne, Reuben Thorne".
"One day when I look back on it all, it's something I'll be really proud of," said Thorne, who led the Crusaders previously and again when this season's skipper, Richie McCaw, was injured.
"It's the toughest competition in the Southern Hemisphere and to be part of such a successful team is something I'll be really proud of.
"One day I'll probably get the chance to reflect on it.
"It's also a sad time [with Justin Marshall, Dave Hewett and Norm Maxwell all leaving]. But it's good to see them go on a winning note."
Thorne spent the first 50 minutes of Saturday night's 35-25 win at Jade Stadium at blindside flanker and then shifted into lock to replace Ross Filipo.
The switch worked a treat. Thorne slotted into the front jumper's role at the next lineout and stole a Waratahs' throw to launch a move that led to Leon MacDonald scoring the team's third try.
"That was really pleasing. We'd done our work on their lineout - [assistant-coach] Rob Penney did some great work there. We'd watched them closely and figured out a few things."
Thorne is set to ignore overseas offers and stay with the Crusaders next year.
