Tracey Nelson previews this weekend's Super Rugby action.

CHIEFS v HURRICANES (Hamilton, Referee Garratt Williamson)

The Hurricanes have won 11 of the 21 games played, while the Chiefs have won 9 - there has been one draw. The last time they played the Chiefs just edged the Hurricanes 17-12 in Wellington in Round 14.

It's all on the line for the Hurricanes because if they lose this game they say goodbye to any chance of making the playoffs, while the Chiefs are sitting on a 10 point buffer as leaders of the New Zealand conference.

The Hurricanes have conceded an average of 26.8 points per match this season, while the Chiefs have been scoring an average of 29.5 points per match and have clocked up 40 tries - which is 10 more than the Hurricanes.

The Chiefs have made 122 clean breaks and 168 offloads, while the Hurricanes have made 83 clean breaks and 124 offloads.

The Hurricanes do have the better lineout, currently sitting at an 86 percent success rate. The Chiefs' lineout is the second worst in the competition with a 79.9 percent success rate. Jeremy Thrush has won 41 lineouts to date.

While the Chiefs have a fairly even split (18 v 22) for tries scored in the first half and second half, the Hurricanes are tending to be more a second half team having scored 12 first half tries and 18 in the second.

Gareth Anscombe remains the top NZ points scorer on 163 but is being hotly pursued by Beauden Barrett who is currently sitting on 155. Anscombe has scored 5 tries in his tally, while Barrett has scored just the one so far.

HIGHLANDERS v CRUSADERS (Dunedin, Referee Steve Walsh)

Of the 23 matches played between these two sides the Crusaders have won 15 with 8 going to the Highlanders. Last time these two teams met the Crusaders won 24-8 in Christchurch, Round 10. The last time they met in Dunedin (2012) the Highlanders won 27-24.

The Highlanders finally found their mojo when beat the Blues in the last round before the French test series. During that game they only made 5 handling errors, and scored 4 tries before half time - just the second time they had scored 4 tries all season.

The Crusaders have a slightly better lineout success rate (83.1 percent) than the Highlanders (80.9 percent), but the Highlanders have employed the quick throw in 20 times this season - which is almost twice as many as the Crusaders.

The Highlanders have made the carries (1737) and most offloads (173) of any New Zealand side. In comparison the Crusaders have made 1598 carries and 121 offloads.

The Highlanders have the best scrum in the competition having won 96 percent of their feeds, while the Crusaders are 5th best with a 92 percent success rate.

Hosea Gear will play his 100th Super Rugby game this weekend, having played 70 for the Hurricanes before shifting south. Since becoming a Highlander in 2012 he has started in every match. This will be his last home Super game.

Cory Flynn will become the most capped Crusader, passing Reuben Thorne's 129 appearances. Flynn began his Crusaders career back in 2002.

The Highlanders have the dubious honour as the team having conceded the most yellow cards this season, with 8. The Crusaders have had just the one.

SHARKS v BLUES (Durban, Referee Jaco Peyper)

The Blues have struggled over the years to beat the Sharks, having won just 4 of the 16 games played. THe last time they met the Sharks won 29-23 in Auckland, and the last time they played in Durban the Sharks won 26-12.

It hasn't been a stellar year for the Sharks, they have won the same number of games as the Blues but find themselves 5 points behind them on the table due to the Blues' ability to score tries - the Blues have scored 4 or more tries in a game on 6 occasions this year.

The Blues have made 121 clean breaks this season, while the Sharks have only managed 72.

Charles Piutau has made the most clean breaks in the competition with 22, and his team mates Rene Ranger (21) and Frank Halai (17) are also in the top 5. Piutau has also made the most running metres with 1223.

Frank Halai is the top-equal try scorer in the competition with 8, tied with Henry Speight (Brumbies) and Israel Folau (Waratahs) although both the Australians have played 2 more games than Halai.
