There were only four linebreaks in total in this game, and Bjorn Basson scored the Bulls' only try of the match from his break in the first half.
The Chiefs made three linebreaks, with Aseli Tikoirotuma making two and Sam Cane one. Both players scored a try each.
Andrew Horrell and Sonny Bill Williams both made three offloads in the tackle. Williams leads the competition's offload count with a current total of 26.
It was Morne Steyn's 200th conversion when he added the two points to Basson's try. Steyn also landed his third drop goal of the season in this game.
HURRICANES v REBELS (66-24)
It was a night for the record books, with this victory being the most points the Hurricanes have scored in a Super Rugby game. Their previous best was set back in 1997 when they beat Northern Transvaal 64-42
It was the Rebels' second biggest loss, second only to the 53-3 hammering they were dealt by the Reds last year.
The Hurricanes' nine tries equalled their record for the most tries they have scored in a Super game, they also scored nine against the Highlanders in 1997.
Beauden Barret coverted all nine of the Hurricanes' try, a new Hurricanes' record from the previous best of six conversions.
Barrett also kicked a penalty goal for a 100 percent effort with the boot and in doing so brought up 158 points for the season, breaking Jon Preston's record of 152 points also set back in 1997.
Andre Taylor scored two tries to take his season tally to 10, and remains the top try scorer in the competition. The record number of tries for a Hurricanes player in a single season is 12, and that is still held by Tana Umaga.
Mark Gerrard played on for the last 17 minutes of the game with a broken sternum following a head-on tackle from Hurricanes' reserve hooker Motu Matu'u. Less than two minutes later, Matu'u knocked midfielder Lachlan Mitchell out cold with yet another big tackle. In total Matu'u made six tackles in his 20 minutes on the field.
Despite being totally outplayed, the Rebels scored the first and last tries in this match and came agonisingly close to scoring a four-try bonus point and what would have been a hattrick to Cooper Vuna if he hadn't knocked the ball on over the line.
BLUES v HIGHLANDERS (20-27)
It was just the Highlanders second win at Eden Park, and the record books will show it was exactly 10 years between wins - and they very nearly didn't get there, with the Blues' sparking a great come back to score two tries in the last 12 minutes of play to be just one converted try away from a draw.
The Highlanders had to make more than twice as many tackles than the Blues, their top tackler being Adam Thomson with 22.
Thomson also starred in the lineout, winning five of the Highlanders' 10 throws and stealing three off the Blues' lineout - including the one for his try.
The Highlanders only made four linebreaks in this match, but the breaks by Kurt Baker and Ben Smith both resulted in tries to Hosea Gear either side of half time. Gear's second of the night was also his 100th first class try.
Gareth Anscombe brought up 100 points for the season with his second penalty goal of the night.
Ali Williams came off the bench in the 46th minute to bring up his 100th Super cap - he has played a total of 85 games for the Blues, and 15 for the Crusaders (2008). He joins 26 other players who have played for two or more franchises to reach their 100th Super appearance.
Ma'a Nonu didn't enter the game until the 53rd minute, but made two linebreaks and four offloads in the tackle.
The Highlanders conceded 13 penalties and two free kicks in this match, and their indiscretions at the breakdown saw Phil Burleigh sin binned in the 61st minute - their fourth yellow card of the season.
