Piri Weepu has re-signed with the Blues and will play with the Auckland based franchise for the next two years.
After signing from the Hurricanes on a one-year deal at the start of the season, Weepu had a difficult first year at the Blues, battling with a number of weight and form issues.
But his decision to stay in Auckland will make him a significant part of a new look Blues side under new coach Sir John Kirwan, after established players like Jerome Kaino, Tevita Mailau, Lachie Munro, Benson Stanley, Chris Lowrey and Isaia Toeava have all moved on.
Weepu tweeted about his new contract this morning saying "It's official ..... sign, sealed delivered! Stay with the Blues next season. #Happy."
All Black lock and Blues team mate Ali Williams shared his elation by tweeting back "Great news pal."
