Seven Chiefs rugby players were named today in a Waikato team to play Wasps in Rotorua on Thursday.
Liam Messam will make his return to rugby after recovering from a knee injury incurred during the New Zealand Maori campaign last month.
He has been named on the reserve bench while other Chiefs players in the 22 include prop Craig West, hooker Tom Willis, lock Toby Lynn, loose forward Steven Bates, midfielder Dwayne Sweeney and winger Jared Payne.
The match is a curtain raiser to the match between New Zealand under-21 and Canada.
