Sonny Bill Williams has reportedly been offered a giant US$1.5 million by Japanese rugby union club the Panasonic Wild Knights.
The 2008 Japanese champions team manager Hitoshi Iijima told the Sydney Morning Herald newspaper that the two-year deal would be the biggest Panasonic had made for any player, surpassing the $US1.1m South African centre Jaque Fourie was paid last season.
Panasonic are based in Ota, a city 80 kilometres northwest of Tokyo.
Williams, who claimed a World Cup winners' medal with the All Blacks last year, is playing his trade with the Chiefs in this year's Super Rugby competition and is also the New Zealand Professional Boxing Association heavyweight champion.
The former league star, who infamously walked out on his contract with the Bulldogs in 2008 to join french rugby club Toulon, has also been linked with a move to the Bondi-based Sydney Roosters for the 2013 NRL season.
