KEY POINTS:
David Nucifora has been reappointed Blues coach for another two seasons but his assistant will not be known for some time.
The former victorious Brumbies coach admitted he looked at the vacant Reds job but decided he had unfinished business with the Blues.
Nucifora was technical adviser to the side in 2005 before leading them to eighth last year in the Super 14 series and into the semifinals this season.
"I did look at the Queensland job because it became available after Eddie's [Jones] departure. It was more about an emotional attachment having lived and played there," he said.
"I needed to have some information, I spoke to them and felt better about that but I think my mind was made up. Here was the right place for me.
"I love my job, I love working with these guys and I think we are making progress. We are not there yet but we are on the right track and I want to get the job done.
"Coaching is my life and my profession and it is hard sometimes to make a decision but this felt right."
Nucifora's assistant coach Joe Schmidt has left to work at the Clermont club in France and his position will be advertised with an appointment made in the next few months.
