KEY POINTS:
Chiefs utility back Sosene Anesi is likely to wear a neck brace for at least six weeks following the serious injury he sustained in the Super 14 rugby competition last week.
Chiefs officials today said Anesi might be discharged from Waikato Hospital in Hamilton tomorrow.
He suffered a fracture to his C6 vertebrae against the Hurricanes in Hamilton last Friday.
He was admitted to Waikato Hospital late on Saturday morning when a scan revealed the fracture.
Anesi, 25, is currently in a neck brace in hospital and he will be fitted with a more specialised brace to wear at home.
It is expected he will have to wear this brace for six weeks.
Another X-ray of his neck will be taken before his discharge to ensure his neck condition is stable.
Officials said at this stage it was unlikely surgery would be needed.
