Chiefs fullback Mils Muliaina has been ruled out of the remainder of the Super 14.
Muliaina is currently undergoing surgery to repair a broken thumb and he will be out for six to eight weeks.
Other worries for the Chiefs include the health of their pivotal five-eighth Stephen Donald, who suffered a knock on the head in the win over the Highlanders at Mount Maunganui.
Hooker Hika Elliot is also in doubt with a reported neck strain.
Possible replacements for Muliaina and Donald include rookie Tim Nanai-Williams or Mike Delany.
Many of the Chiefs are already the 'walking wounded'.
The disabled list includes Aled de Malmanche, Sitiveni Sivivatu, Tanerau Latimer and Nathan White.
Which all leaves coach Ian Foster with plenty of headaches.
