Former North Otago rugby mentor Glen Moore has been appointed defence coach for the Highlanders for next year's Super 14.
The Otago Rugby Union confirmed the appointment today, with Moore also joining the Otago squad as assistant coach for the 2006 NPC.
Moore, the national divisional team coach for the past three seasons, had good success with North Otago in the NPC second division, taking them to three semifinals in five years.
"They're both among the top teams in the country and are on an upward spiral. Joining them will be an exciting challenge and I'm looking forward to contributing to their continued success," Moore said on joining the Highlanders and Otago camps.
Moore, 45, replaces John Haggart, who moved to Canterbury.
