Rugby: Lam denies rumours he is off to Bath

Blues coach Pat Lam has denied rumours he is eyeing a move to Bath after this season.

Lam is under pressure already following two defeats in the opening two rounds, including a thrashing at the hands of the Chiefs in Hamilton - but in an interview on Radio Sport this morning he denied reports he was looking at moving to the English club.

"At the end of the day I have a contract here in New Zealand and I have a job to do. I know there are a lot of people who aren't happy but I can assure you we aren't happy too,'' he said after his arrival in South Africa for the Blues' next two games.

Lam said he had received an offer from the New Zealand Rugby Union to extend his contract beyond this season and at this stage he was committed to New Zealand rugby.

"It's a team fault,'' Lam said of the Blues' performances. "It's all of us. One of the challenges is we've got people coming back at different times.

"Ultimately we got it wrong, we got it wrong badly last week and we know as a group that we need to play better.''

The Blues face a challenging fortnight in South Africa with the Bulls and Stormers their next assignments before returning to Auckland to play what will be an intriguing clash against the Hurricanes.

"I understand why people are disappointed but bottom line, the goal is still to get to the playoffs.

"It's only round two and at the end of the day if I worried about what people said I would have been gone a long time ago.''
