Former All Black Chris Jack is returning to the Crusaders franchise after signing a two-year deal with Tasman.
Jack played for the province before heading offshore at the end of the 2007 World Cup.
The 31-year-old joins current All Black locks Brad Thorn and Isaac Ross in the Crusaders set-up but coach Todd Blackadder is playing down his side's strength in the locking area.
He says sometimes when you think you have a lot of depth it only takes a couple of key injuries to be a little light.
However, Blackadder says Jack will bring a great deal of experience to the team after playing in both Europe and South Africa in the past two years.
He says Jack will come back with a better perspective and with a new dimension from playing different styles of rugby.
